Hundreds of mourners bid a tearful adieu to two army men and sons of the soil – Sanjay Debnath and Prasanta Kumar Deb on Sunday.
The last rites of the deceased jawans were performed with full state honour in presence of large number of people of all walks of life.
Pall of gloom descended as the mortal remains of Sanjay Debnath and Prasanta Kumar Deb – martyred in Manipur landslip, reached Agartala on Sunday. Over hundreds of people gathered at Agartala MBB airport today to pay tributes to the deceased jawans.
The mortal remains of the jawans were carried to the Headquarters of the Assam Rifles in Agartala where AR officials laid wreaths and paid their last tribute.
The mortal remains, kept caskets draped in tricolor, were also taken to AD Nagar Police ground and the deceased jawans were given a Guard of Honour by the Tripura Police.
Later, the deceased martyred soldiers’ bodies were sent to their respective residences.
Scores of mourners gathered at Prasanta Kumar Deb’s resident at AD Nagar in Agartala to catch the last glimpse. Relatives and local people broke down into tears. Showing integrity and compassion to bereaved family members, youths took part in Deb’s last journey and his last rites were conducted at Battala crematorium with full state honours.
Prasanta Kumar Deb’s ancestral home is Kalyanpur. Deb is survived by his wife and a child. His wife is a staff of Tripura Police.
A flower-bedecked vehicle carried the mortal remains of Sanjay Debnath to his native place at Baidyadighi in Bishalgarh. the A large procession of mourners followed the vehicle. Local people gathered in numbers at the Baidyadighi School ground where army jawans presented a Guard of Honour to deceased Debnath. Local people including political personalities and different organizations also offered tributes.
From the school ground, his mortal remains were taken to his nearby house where his last rites were performed. Sanjay Debnath is survived by his parents, wife and child.
