To mark the occasion of 25 years of Legal Services, a second term Legal Services Camp was conducted at Manikpur Market Ground in Manikpur Village Committee under Chawmanu RD Block of Longtharai Valley recently.
The camp was organized by Longtharai Valley Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee in coordination with sub-divisional administration, BSF contingent, Nalkata and different line departments of the sub-division with the assistance of BSF 64th Battalion, Nalkata.
Additional District and Session Judge of Dhalai district Anshuman Chowdhury graced the event as an inaugurator and chief guest in presence of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Dhalai district Satyajit Das, Assistant Session Judge of Dhalai district Rahul Roy, Longtharai Valley SDM Amartya Barman, Chawmanu RD Block BDO Lalit Chakma, Longtharai Valley SDPO Ratna Sadhan Noatia, Commandant of TSR 8th Battalion, Lalcherra Amarjit Debbarma, Deputy Commandant of BSF 64th Battalion, Nalkata Surjit Singh.
The inaugurator spoke about constitutional and legal services rights provided under the State, District and Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee accessible to every citizen. Certificates were distributed to the beneficiaries and health kits were distributed to physically challenged persons by the dignitaries. Later the dignitaries visited different departmental stalls (SDM office, Education, Health, Fisheries, Agriculture, Forest, ICDS, ARDD, Power, FEEDCO, Labour, Fire Service, Sub-ZDO of TTAADC, SBI, Police department etc.,) carrying information about different welfare schemes and projects in the camp. BSF 64th Battalion, Nalkata too opened a stall displaying information regarding new recruitment procedures for aspirants.
It was informed that basic services were delivered during the camp on behalf of the SDM office such as PRTC, ST certificate, Divyanga Certificate etc. Four pregnant and nursing mothers benefitted from the nutritional package. 127 patients received treatment and health assistance from Manikpur PHC. 18 physically challenged persons benefitted through District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Kulai. Seven beneficiaries were enrolled through the Labour department. 43 families benefitted through ARDD department. 100 tree saplings were distributed through the Forest department of Chawmanu Range.
The welcome speech was delivered by Chairman of Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee Ramanuj Bhattacharjee. A vote of thanks was delivered by Member Secretary of Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee Abhijit Adhikari.
