Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb accompanied by a team of officials inspected the ongoing Light House Project at the site and passed an instruction to the authority concerned for timely completion of the project.

The Chief Minister said the Agartala Light House Project would have 1000 flats in seven towers for the Economic Weaker Section (EWS). He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sanctioning this project for Tripura.

“Tripura is one among the six states of the country to have this project. The construction is being done by using a New Zealand-based technology,” Deb said. This technology will make the buildings earthquake proof.

New Zealand’s steel frame technology is being used for building Light House Project in Agartala. The Light House Project has been initiated under the Global Housing Technology Challenge (GHTC-India).

“It’s a matter of joy that the people who belong to the Economic Weaker Section would have the opportunity to stay in such flats,” he told the media.

The Chief Minister called upon the PWD engineers to gather knowledge from the ongoing works so that they can function with the same technology in future.

Replying to a question regarding complaints on overpricing of construction items since launching of mega drive under Prime Minister Awaas Yojana, Deb said, all the District Magistrates have already been directed to ensure that traders can’t overcharge the people for selling bricks and other items.

“If any trader is found guilty of overpricing, the government will act tough and legal action will be taken,” the Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also inspected various ongoing works at Akhaura Integrated Check Post. He said any attempt to disrupt service and import-export trade would not be tolerated. He stressed on enhancing ease of doing business through further development of the land port.

During his visit, Deb was accompanied by Director General of Police V.S. Yadav, Secretary Kiran Gitte, Secretary P.K. Goyal, Mamaging Director of Agartala Smart City Limited Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav and District Magistrate of West Tripura Debapriya Bardhan among others.
