Lovebirds consume poison in PS, later succumb
In an unprecedented and tragic turn of events, two lovebirds consumed poison inside a Police Station and later both died. It is learnt, one Ananda Chakma of Shilachhari area eloped with a girl of the same area after having an affair for a long time.
Opposing their affair, the family members of the girl did not agree to accept this and lodged a complaint with Silachhari Police. After a search, Police managed to bring the couple in the Police station.
However, evading the Police attention, the couple consumed poison. Sensing the situation, Policemen rushed the duo to Shilachhari Hospital from where attending doctors referred them to Udaipur Hospital.
As their health conditions continued to deteriorate, both of them were referred to GB Hospital. However, the girl succumbed on the way to the Hospital while Ananda Chakma died on Monday morning. A pall of gloom descended in the area at the tragic end of an affair.
Police action against contraband dealers, gamblers
As part of raids against narcotic dealers and gambling, Tripura police nabbed five persons from different parts of Tripura.
Belonia police nabbed one narcotics dealer from Belonia on Sunday night. The accused Bijoy Paul is allegedly a mastermind of the brown sugar gang. He was booked under NDPS act.
In a separate raid Santibazar police held one alleged contraband dealer- Pankaj Baaraj from Jolaibari area, said Santirbazar police station office-in-charge Biswajit Debbarma on Monday.
He said, Santirbazar police led by SDPO Nirupam Dutta along with OC Bikhura police station Sanjoy Das and Debbarma conducted the raid.
In another raid, Kalyanpur police police led by OC Subhrangshu Bhattacharjee and Sub-inspector Biswajit Das nabbed three gamblers along with cash from a gambling spot nearby a Charak Mela in Gourangatilla School ground.
