Leaders of Tripura unit of INDIA bloc launched a scathing attack on ruling BJP at Halahali under the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat on Sunday. The leaders alleged BJP ushered 'destruction', not development in the country.
Addressing an election rally in Halahali today, INDIA bloc leader and CPIM State secretary Jitendra Choudhury alleged democracy and the Constitution of the country are under attack.
The rally was organized in support of INDIA Bloc nominated CPIM candidate Rajendra Reang from the East (ST) Parliamentary constituency which will go to polls on April 26.
According to Choudhury, the BJP's rule had veered toward a 'fascistic' regime, endangering the very fabric of the nation.
He emphasized that the time had come to safeguard democracy and uphold the constitution.
Choudhury leveled allegations against the BJP's six-year tenure in Tripura. He asserted that the state had witnessed a dearth of new schemes and projects during this period.
Worse still, the right to vote for Tripura's citizens had allegedly been curtailed under the BJP's watch.
The law and order situation, once stable under the Left Front regime, had deteriorated significantly, and the legacy of the Left's developmental strides lay in ruins.
Continuing his criticism, the CPIM leader highlighted alarming trends of drug addiction.
But it was the BJP's alliance with the TIPRA Motha Party that drew Choudhury's ire. Firing verbal salvos at the BJP and TMP, he accused both parties of exploiting tribal sentiments for their political gains, using the indigenous population as mere pawns in their electoral maneuvers.
Sudip Roy Barman, the Congress MLA, echoed Choudhury's sentiments. He rallied support for the I.N.D.I.A bloc, emphasizing the urgency of ending the BJP's 'fascistic' grip on power. He urged voters to deliver a resounding response and reject the BJP to save the democracy.
