Tripura’s Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, conveyed on Saturday that the legacy of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma would continue to serve as an inspiration for the state’s advancement. Dr. Saha also highlighted that the current administration, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recognizes the significance of acknowledging the historical contributions of the Maharajas to the state.

Dr. Saha noted, “The present Bharatiya Janata Party-led government comprehends the importance of recognizing the Maharajas’ contributions to the state. This government has effectively reinstated their legacy and has initiated efforts to enhance public awareness regarding its role. In contrast, the previous administration consistently contested the Maharaja’s contributions to the state.”

On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President JP Nadda also paid tribute to Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya on his birth anniversary.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while honouring the architect of modern Tripura, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, on his birth anniversary at Maharaja Bir Bikram Chowmuhani (Zero Point) in Agartala today.

“Maharaja Bir Bikram will forever be commemorated as the visionary behind the modernization of Tripura. He particularly envisioned the enhancement of Agartala city. Sadly, his premature demise prevented the complete realization of that aspiration. To mark Maharaja’s birthday on August 19th, diverse governmental and private programs have been arranged across the state. Since the establishment of the BJP-led government in the state, Maharaja’s birthday has been observed with grand ceremonies. The government has also designated this day as a public holiday,” Dr. Saha conveyed.

He underscored the importance of acquainting the state’s populace with Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya’s achievements.

“It is essential for everyone to grasp his substantial contributions to Tripura,” he asserted.

During this event, Dr. Saha was joined by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Central Zone Chairman Ratna Dutta, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and other officials.
