Former Chief Minister of Tripura and CPIM Politburo member Manik Sarkar said global economy has plunged into serious crisis and urged the youths to think over alternating the present trend for a brighter future.
Speaking at the 19th edition of the Tripurainfo mega quiz program in Agartala on Sunday.
Appreciating the organizer for conducting successive successful mega quiz program over the years, Sarkar hailed the inquisitiveness of the school students and youths in general.
He said, it is appreciable that youths gather knowledge about their society, State and country as well as the global affairs.
Sarkar lamented, unemployment has plagued the Indian as well as the global economy.
“Unemployment has emerged as a major challenge before the youths. There is a growing trend of hiring people on contracts in different government jobs”, Sarkar commented.
Citing an instance of interview for Group-D job in Uttar Pradesh where highly qualified youths applied for the post in numbers, Sarkar said, the youths, alongwith gathering knowledge should also think about the emerging socio-economic conditions.
“It is to note that even as unemployment is a global issue, there were some countries which managed to slash down the unemployment rate to almost zero by advocating a different society “, the CPIM leader opined without mentioning the name of the countries or type of the those societies.
He encouraged the youths to improve their knowledge and fight to win in the competition as well as focus on analysing and researching about the prevailing conditions.
“It is imperative to identify the factors responsible for problems like unemployment and youths must think if an alternative to the present system can be created to combat the socio-economic issues”, he signed off.
Notably, the Tripurainfo mega quiz competition started with screening test for pick out quiz teams for the competition. Meantime, several interesting audiance rounds were conducted and successful respondents including school and college students bagged attractive prizes.
