In a concerted effort to enhance Tripura’s export capabilities, the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry will provide crucial financial support aimed at bolstering the state’s infrastructure for export-driven growth.

The initiative, disclosed by Union Minister of State (MoS) for Commerce and Industry, Anupriya Patel, during a recent visit, is poised to usher in economic growth through increased export activities.

MoS Anupriya Patel underscored the Ministry’s dedication to advancing Tripura’s economic standing among sub-Himalayan states. At present, Tripura ranks fourth in this category, but with reinforced infrastructural underpinnings, it is poised to amplify its export potential, thereby catalyzing industrial development.

The MoS conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing implementation of various developmental projects and schemes initiated by the Union Government in the Sepahijala district of Tripura. Her visit to Tripura is part of the Central government’s strategic outreach program aimed at fostering development in the Northeastern region.

One of the key points of Patel’s visit was the drive to expand rubber cultivation across the Northeast. The Ministry is vigorously working towards extending rubber cultivation to cover a staggering two lakh hectares of land in the region. Patel also divulged that the government is actively engaged in discussions with tire manufacturing companies to facilitate this ambitious endeavor.

As part of her visit, Anupriya Patel made an on-site inspection of a rubber plantation and a rubber processing unit situated in the Santarampara area within the Rongmala ADC Village of Sepahijala District.

She accompanied by Dr. Vishwasree B, Director of the State Industry Department; Shailaja K, Joint Production Commissioner of the Rubber Board; Nabadal Banik, Chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC); MLAs Bindu Debnath, Toffajal Hussain, and Antara Sarkar Deb; Sabhadhipati of Sepahijala Zila Parishad Supriya Das Dutta; DM Dr. Vishal Kumar, along with other officials.

Following her inspection, the MoS shared her impressions on social media, stating, “Visited Santarampara Block Rubber Plantation unit at Santarampara village of Sepahijala district of Tripura. The unit has contributed significantly in raising the income levels of the members of the local community.” She also had the opportunity to witness a live demonstration of latex tapping during her visit.
