Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik inaugurated the newly constructed all-equipped conference hall of Tripura Grameen Bank “Naba Chintan” at the bank’s headquarters in Abhaynagar today.
The inauguration programme highlighted the ‘woman power’ of the Bank and reiterated the role of female staff and officers in developing the rural economy through women empowerment as envisioned by the State Government.
The female employees of Tripura Grameen Bank (TGB) welcomed the Union MoS with Tilak after that she cut the ribbon to inaugurate the “Naba Chintan” conference hall.
During the inauguration, Pratima Bhoumik exchanged views with the female staff and officers of different branches of Grameen Bank. The meeting was attended by Meera Debroy, the first female officer of Grameen Bank, Rakhi Biswas, Board of Directors of the Bank and Mahendra Mohan Goswami, Chairman of the Bank and Ashtami Debnath of Durlabhanarayan village under Sonamura subdivision in Sepahijala district were present in the programme.
Ashtami Debnath – the only person from Tripura who was awarded by the Central Government in Delhi for attaining self-reliance after the successful training imparted by Tripura Grameen Bank’s Training Center at Bishramganja under Sepahijala district.
MoS Pratima Bhowmik hoped that the success of Ashtami Debnath would inspire many other women.
In today’s programme, the welcoming remarks were delivered by Payal Saha, Head of the Development Department of TGB. The inaugural address was delivered by Mahendra Mohan Goswami, the Chairman of the TGB.
The first female officer of the bank Meera Debroy and Ashtami Debnath shared their experiences in this exchange meeting.

Pratima Bhoumik highly appreciated the staffs and officers of Tripura Grameen Bank especially the female staffs and officers. She also mentioned the relentless efforts of TGB for the economic development of Tripura.
He called upon the women employees and officers of the bank to play a stronger role for the development of the rural economy in future. Rakhi Biswas, Board of Directors of the Bank delivered the vote of thanks. The entire program was conducted by Odisi Chakraborty.
