The first-ever public data office in Tripura by the BSNL has started its journey on Tuesday.
Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik inaugurated the Public Data Office at Konaban in Sepahijala district under the Prime Minister’s Wireless Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) scheme. She launched the scheme virtually from the telecom building at Kaman Chaumuhani in Agartala.
“This initiative is a boon for boosting the growth and development of rural areas and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodiji for the transformational of the PM-WANI scheme”, Bhowmik tweeted.
The Prime Minister’s dream is to provide internet service to rural workers, farmers and students. In the current Corona situation, people are realizing importance of the internet connectivity.
The Prime Minister’s dream is to provide over 1 crore internet connections across the country by December 2022. Farmers, students and businessmen in rural areas will get this facility.
Pratima Bhoumik said it would be possible to provide internet service to the entire state by launching such service at places where there is internet service is weak.
The MoS thanked BSNL for launching this service in the state to fulfil the dream of the Prime Minister. Many rural areas of the state do not have WiFi. She called for launching this service in all the rural areas.
Bhowmik said, “It is pertinent to mention that in this digital age, the common people and industries will largely benefit from the Wi-Fi connections installed”.
Bhowmik also said the state government would extend all the possible cooperation in this regard.
“I am delighted to see how we are successfully transforming North-East India into a digitally empowered society”, she exalted and added, “The dream of building a digital India will be realized in this way”.
