Rebati Tripura, the Member of Parliament from East Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, visited Kumardhan Para, a remote tribal village under the Dhalai district of Tripura on Saturday.

He interacted with the villagers and inspected the ongoing development works in the area. The MP also distributed blankets among the villagers as a gesture of goodwill.

Kumardhan Para is an old tribal settlement located on a hilltop at 1330 feet height, which can be reached after a short trek. The village is also known as Hapong Raja, which means the king of the hills or the tallest of the hills in Kokborok, the language of the indigenous Tripuri people.

Rebati Tripura, who belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said that he had started the campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and wanted to reach out to the people living in the farthest corners of the state. He said that the state and the central governments had been working in close coordination to provide basic amenities and infrastructure to the rural areas, especially the hilly and tribal regions.

He expressed his satisfaction over the improvements that had taken place after the BJP came to power in the state in 2018. 

Tripura-MP-Rebati-Dhalai-districtRebati Tripura said that the biggest demand of the villagers, which was a road connectivity to the highway, had been addressed and the construction work was progressing at a fast pace. He hoped that the road would be completed in a very short period of time and would improve the accessibility and mobility of the villagers.

He also spoke about the drinking water situation in the village and said that the deep tube wells were being installed in the hilly areas as well. 

He said, under the Jal Jeevan Mission project, a central government initiative to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024, more than 70 percent of the villages in the state had achieved 100 percent tap water connection. He said that it was a remarkable change which had been made after 70 years of independence.

He assured the villagers that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, not a single person would have to worry about their needs and aspirations. 

The MP also said that if required, more machinery and resources would be deployed to ensure water for all. He urged the villagers to support the BJP in the upcoming elections and promised to work for their welfare and development.

The villagers welcomed the MP’s visit and thanked him for his concern and assistance. They said that villagers were happy with the development works and the provision of drinking water in their village. They said that the inhabitants of the village would support the BJP in the elections.
