In pursuance of Nesha Mukt Tripura drive, Police scripted major success on Monday.
Khowai police seized over 1000 kg ganja and heroin in four separate raids on today.
Police and TSR personnel led by OC of Mungiyakami PS, Gautam Debbarma seized 36 packets containing total 343 Kg ganja worth Rs 20 lakh from a lorry on NH 08 at 39 Mile area during routine vehicle checking and held the driver, Mohammad Arse Raj of Bihar, in this connection.
In another raid, SDPO Teliamura along with other staff of Teliamura Police Station seized 712 kg ganja kept in 76 packets from a container truck at Haowabari and arrested the driver – Awadhesh Kumar Gupta of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Besides, two persons were arrested today in connection with possessing Heroin.
One cloth merchant of Khowai was nabbed for keeping Heroin. Based on a tip-off, the SDPO of Khowai and OC of Mungiyakami PS along with other officers and staff raided a cloth merchant’s shop at the heart of the town in the Cooperative Choumuhani area and recovered Heroin kept in 26 containers totalling 2.4 grams from the possession of the owner of the shop, Anjan Datta (47).
According to sources, each is sold at Rs 350-400 in the market.
In another raid at the Office Tila area in Khowai, Police seized 2.60 gm heroin and arrested one person – Tinku Sukladas (34).
Recovery of Brown Sugar from a well-established cloth merchant’s shop has sparked a sensation among the local people.
