The net collection under the Small Savings Schemes in Tripura exhibited substantial growth during the fiscal year 2022-23 as compared to 2020-21, Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary said in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday in response to a question raised by MP Biplab Kumar Deb.
The Minister of State (MoS) for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, disclosed that the provisional figure of net collection under the Small Savings Schemes in Tripura during FY 2022-23 amounted to Rs 803.70 crore, whereas it had been Rs 640.84 crore in FY 2020-21.
Responding to another question from MP Biplab Kumar Deb, the MoS highlighted that the net collection under the Small Savings Scheme constituted 1.54 per cent of the GDP in FY 2020-21 and stood at 1.12 per cent of GDP in FY 2022-23 based on provisional figures.
The funds collected under the Small Savings Schemes are invested in Special Central Government Securities and Special State Government Securities of those states that have opted for investment from the National Small Savings Fund (NSSF), such as Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi, explained the MoS.
MP Biplab Kumar Deb also inquired about the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).
In response, the MoS for Health and Family Welfare, Prof P Singh Baghel, stated that AB-PMJAY is the largest publicly funded health protection scheme globally and is operational in 33 States/Union Territories, including Tripura, except for Delhi, Odisha, and West Bengal.
Regarding the AB-PMJAY implementation in Tripura, Prof Baghel provided specific details, saying that a total of 13.34 lakh Ayushman cards were issued, and 2.42 lakh hospital admissions amounting to Rs 211.1 crore were authorized under the scheme as of July 25, 2023.
The AB-PMJAY implementation in Tripura caters to a total of 5,49,554 eligible beneficiary families, with the highest number of beneficiaries hailing from West District at 85,107, followed by Gomati (70,786), Sepahijala (68,090), South Tripura (66,161), Khowai (58,176), North Tripura (53,061), Dhalai (50,208), and Unakoti (39,375).
The MoS emphasized that the primary objective of AB-PMJAY is to provide health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to 12 crore families.
As of July 25, approximately 24.19 crore Ayushman cards have been issued, and a total of 5.38 crore hospital admissions worth Rs 66,039 have been authorized in the country under the AB-PMJAY scheme, the MoS added.
