Agartala/Guwahati Dec 15: In a move aimed at strengthening Tripura’s industrial ecosystem, the Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a final location survey for a proposed railway line connecting the Bodhjungnagar Industrial Complex with the Jirania rail yard.
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Kapinjal Kishore Sharma stated that the proposed railway section will cover around 14 kilometres in West Tripura district, with survey-related expenditure pegged at ₹42 lakh. Officials said the project is expected to play a key role in stimulating industrial activity and economic growth.
According to the CPRO, the entire proposed railway corridor falls within West Tripura district. He added that the approval represents a key milestone in expanding rail infrastructure and supporting industrial growth across the state.
This approval marks an important step toward strengthening railway infrastructure and enhancing industrial activities in Tripura, Sharma said.
He further explained that the final location survey will involve an in-depth assessment of terrain, soil conditions, bridge requirements and other technical and engineering parameters.
Once the survey is completed, a detailed report will be compiled and forwarded to the Ministry of Railways for evaluation and subsequent approvals. He described the survey as a critical preparatory phase for the execution of the new railway line.
Railway officials said the final location survey will generate a comprehensive technical report, which will serve as the basis for future decision-making on the construction of the new railway line.

Railway connectivity to the Industrial complex is expected to attract new investments, create employment opportunities and support faster movement of raw materials and finished goods.
