7 Bangladeshi citizens nabbed in Agartala
Tripura Police nabbed seven Bangladeshi citizens from Agartala on Friday night.
The police personnel of NCC Police station arrested the Bangladeshi nationals on the basis of secret information from the area adjacent to Indranagar Kalibari in Agartala late on Friday night (October 21).
Officer-in-charge of NCC PS Subir Malakar said the police had got information that some Bangladeshi youths were roaming in Indra Nagar area on Friday.
Accordingly, the police raided the area and arrested seven Bangladeshis namely, Shahidul Sheikh, Zahir Ali, Rabban Sheikh, Sajib Ali, M Ali, and Nayrul Islam. Police brought them to the police station. After initial interrogation, Police found out that Bangladeshis had illegally entered India without passports. It was revealed, they were roaming around Agartala city for work for the past few days.
The police registered a case against them and started investigating the incident. On Saturday (October 22), the police took them to court seeking remand.
The police believe that by interrogating them, they will find out reasons behind their entry into Tripura.
Cong hits road in Unakoti on minor rape case
Congress supporters staged a protest and placed deputation at Fatikroy Police Station under Unakoti district in Tripura on Saturday (October 22) demanding arrest of all the accused persons involved in raping a minor girl in Kumarghat on October 19 last.
In case, Police fail to arrest all the culprits, Congress would give a call for 12-hour Kumarghat strike, party leaders threatened.
Congress supporters held demonstration on October 21 demanding the arrests of culprits after Police registered a case based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s family members.
Meantime, Police arrested Rajeev Das of Netaji Palli area in Kumarghat and Papiya Dey of Kanchanbari area of Fatikroy in connection with the rape case on Saturday morning and sent them to Unakoti District Court.
Agitating Congress supporters claimed complaint was lodged against five culprits – Police managed to nab only two while remaining three accused persons including a local influential person are still at large.
“We are demanding immediate arrests of all the culprits”, Congress supporters said.
Unakoti District Superintendent of Police Kanta Jahangir accepted the deputation and assured the Congress leaders that the rest would be arrested soon.
Congress leaders have informed the police that if the remaining three culprits are not arrested within 24 hours, the Party will observe a 12 hours strike in Kumarghat.
