The Tripura government has imposed Night Corona Curfew in view of the alarming Covid 19 situation.
An order in this regard was issued undersigned by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar in which the top bureaucrat said that the step was undertaken to contain the spread of the disease that could cause loss of lives.
“It is felt that unless measures are put in place to contain the spread of the pandemic, there is a chance of large scale spread of COVID-19 in the population which is likely to cause loss of human lives. AND The epidemic disease COVID-19, in its 2nd wave, is spreading very rapidly throughout the country. In Tripura, new cases of COVID-19 are also being detected every day. The positivity rate is steadily rising. NOW I, therefore, in the capacity of the Chairman of the State Executive Committee of Tripura State Disaster Management Authority, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 22 (2) (h) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 direct enforcement of following measures which will be in force till 30th April, 2021”, the notification undersigned by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar said.
“Corona night curfew will be imposed between 10 PM to 5 AM in Agartala Municipal Corporation area wef 22. April, 2021. Medical and other emergency needs and persons to maintain essential services like health, police, security, power supply, drinking water supply etc may be exempted. DM (West) will issue an order under section 144 CrPC giving details. Wide publicity will be done of the order and strict enforcement measures will be taken”, said the order detailing about the new Corona Night Curfew.
“In view of serious covid situations, the job related physical examinations and tests will stand postponed. This will include written examination by Joint Recruitment Board of Manpower as Employment Department and physical test of IR battalion. The concerned Departments will issue notification in this regard”, it added on the forthcoming job interviews.
Restrictions on social and cultural events had been also revised. “In closed spaces, a maximum of 50% of the seating/hall capacity should be allowed for any social, cultural, entertainment or political gathering with a ceiling of 100 persons. In open spaces, higher numbers may be allowed based on the size of the ground / space with a ceiling of 200 persons.
Wearing of face masks, maintaining social distancing and provision of hand wash or sanitizer will be mandatory. The organizers will deploy sufficient no. of volunteers/ staff to regulate the crowd and enforcement of norms of social distancing and wearing of masks. Prior permission for all such gatherings may be obtained from district/police administration.
Maximum 100 persons may be allowed in marriage/ birthday & other social functions both in public or private places. Maximum 20 persons should be allowed in funeral / last rites related gathering. Movie halls/ Multiplexes will function at 50% capacity. Persons above the age of 65 are advised to remain indoors unless required to go for essential services. Others may be advised to curtail unnecessary movement and avoid crowded places”, the notification reads.
In addition, wearing face masks and social distancing in public places had also been made mandatory, failure of which could invite monetary penalties and legal actions under penal provisions.
Copies of the order were sent to all the concerned officials and District Magistrates had been asked to shoulder the responsibility of implementing the orders without any failure.
“All the District Magistrate & Collectors shall strictly enforce the above measures. Any person violating these measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal section Under Section 188 of I.P.C and other legal provisions as applicable”, added the order.
