Indrasena Reddy Nallu, the Governor of Tripura, inaugurated the NIT Global Alumni Meet-2024 on Sunday. The meet was organized at the Visweswaraiya Auditorium of NIT-Agartala.

In his speech at the event, the Governor highlighted the rich history of NIT-Agartala spanning 50 years. 

He said that the institute was founded in 1970 and has since produced thousands of graduates who are working in various fields of engineering and technology.

He said that NIT-Agartala is a hub of knowledge and innovation. The students of this institute are working with distinction in various parts of the country and abroad. The Governor expressed hope that the annual alumni meet will help to bring forward new talents.

Institutions like NIT play an important role in nation-building. Through the development of quality technical education, creating innovative professionals and entrepreneurs, using cutting-edge technology, and establishing themselves as a higher education corridor for Southeast Asia, institutions like NIT-Agartala need to establish their importance even more.

At the event, students of the 1970, 1971, and 1972 batches of the Golden Jubilee Alumni and students of the 1998 batch of the Silver Jubilee Alumni were felicitated. 

The Moutusi Kar Memorial Award and the Manmohan Sardar and Shanti Devi-Shanti Swarup Memorial Award were presented to the best students of NIT-Agartala.

At the event, the Governor unveiled the cover of the souvenir published on the occasion of the NIT Global Alumni Meet-2024. The souvenir featured articles about the history and achievements of NIT-Agartala.

The welcome address was given by NIT Agartala Alumni General Secretary Engineer Tapas Marak. In addition, Professor Manish Pal, Professor Sharat Kumar Patra, Chairman of the Board of Governors of NIT-Agartala Vinod Kumar Bauri, Dr. Shubhrakamal Dutta, Professor Dr. Swapan Bhowmik, and others also spoke on the occasion.
