Tripura Government has given priority to emphasis on nurturing the MSMEs for the development of Industries in the State and accordingly formulated a scheme to give incentives to the entrepreneurs, said Chief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha.
He was speaking about the discussions held in the Niti Aayog meeting which was held in New Delhi on Saturday (May 27 last). He informed the media that discussions revolved around 8 key points, including the progress of welfare schemes.
Speaking at the Niti Aayog meeting, Dr Saha highlighted the State government’s priority in developing the MSME sectors relating to Food processing, Rubber, Tea, Bamboo, etc, and said, the State government rolled out ‘Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive Scheme (TIIPIS) 2022’ to provide subsidy in capital and cheap electricity supply, etc. He also highlighted the State government’s plan to create an ‘Agar Hub’ worth Rs 2000 crore in the State within 2025.
Dr Saha also revealed State Government’s initiatives to attract private investments in production-oriented initiatives.
In this connection, the Chief Minister pointed out that Capital expenditure increased to a whopping Rs 2200 crore in 2022-23 compared to Rs 835 crore in 2021-22.
Referring to the State government’s plan to roll out the ‘Medical Tourism’ initiative, Dr Saha also touched upon the health sector’s achievements like steps to provide health care to orphan kids, health care for vulnerable children and mothers, institutional delivery, etc.
In the Conclave, the Chief Minister of Tripura said discussions were held on 13 points and he highlighted the achievements of the state in implementing various schemes and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Regarding the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), the state’s success rate stands at an impressive 91.19 percent, benefitting 1,79,989 individuals at an expenditure of Rs. 1300 crore. In the PMAY-Urban, the state has achieved a commendable success rate of 73 percent in the last six months. The central government sanctioned 82,217 houses during this period, out of which 57,040 homes have already been constructed.
Dr. Saha went on to discuss the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission, informing that 62.14 percent of the work has been accomplished thus far, with the remaining tasks slated for completion by December 2023.
He also highlighted the state’s remarkable achievement of 94.62 percent in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Additionally, the Chief Minister provided updates on the successful execution of other schemes, including Kisan Samman Nidhi, Gram Sadak Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Scheme, and Atal Pension Yojana.
Emphasizing the significance of GST collection, the Chief Minister expressed his determination to take strict measures to ensure proper revenue collection in the state.
He further elaborated on the state government’s initiatives to empower women, such as the provision of 33 percent reservation for women in government jobs, the establishment of an all-women battalion in the Tripura State Rifles, and the activities of Self Help Groups (SHGs).
Lastly, he shared details about the inauguration of the new Parliament building, highlighting that materials from four different states were utilized in its construction. Stones from Rajasthan, wood from Maharashtra, carpet from Uttar Pradesh, and bamboo tiles from Tripura were incorporated to create this symbolic structure.
