Local people blocked the Rajnagar to Ekinpur Road in South Tripura on Friday morning demanding arrest of an accused involved in killing a person of the area.
One 44 years old person, Benu Biswas, son of Fanindra Biswas of Kamalpur Bazar area under PR Bari police station of Belonia sub-division, was hit on his head on Thursday night and died on spot.
Meantime, CPM supporters in Agartala held a rally demanding arrest of the culprit. CPM activists said deceased Benu Biswas was a CPM supporter and alleged he was mudered by BJP-backed goons.
It is reported Benu Biswas got involved in a heated argument with one Manik Sarkar at Ekinpur Bazar area on Thursday night. As the quarrel took a turn for worse, Sarkar reportedly hit Benu Biswas on his head. This proved to fatal for Biswas, as he succumed to injuries on spot.
Police rushed to spot and recovered the body. The body is sent for conducting an autopsy.
Meantime, the killing sparked resentment among the people from where the murdered person hailed.
On Friday morning, local people of Kamalpur Bazar area gathered and blocked the Rajnagar-Ekinpur road. Aggrieved villagers were demanding immediate arrest of the prime accused.
According to the locals, Biswas and the accused had a personal enmity over which they had a bitter argument on Thursday night which ultimately led to killing of Biswas.
The blockade threw traffic out of gear and it is continuing till the report filing.
