Another bold, unique and examplary move to keep Jampui Hill clean and green is being taken by Jampui Hill Mizo community and Kanchanpur Sub-Divisional Forest Office under the leaderships of Mr Suman Malla, TFS, the Sub-Divisioal Forest Officer (SDFO) and Dr Zairemthiama Pachuau, General Secretary of Mizo Convention.

Clean and green campaign gains greater momentum in the Hill with the preparation and installation of 10 new high quality reflective signages, one for each village, with beautiful and catchy slogans written in English and the local Mizo languages. The partnership goes like: Zampui Literary Society (ZLS) prepares the slogans, Kanchanpur Sub-Divisional Forest Office takes responsibilities of logistics and expenses, and Mizo Convention Youth Wing identifies the locations and installs the signages.

The slogans go like these: “Welcome to Vanghmun village, the cleanest village of Tripura”, “God gave us green, now, let’s keep it clean”, “You can be the agent of change – by being clean”, “A clean place is a safe place”, “A clean heart dwells in a clean place”, “It’s cool to be clean”, “Pick it up, clean it up, make a change”, “A clean scene will give a good gene to your children”, “God dwells in the cleanest of place”, “Let’s make Jampui Hill clean again!”

Still, the government and the community partnership simply does not end here. The Sub-Division Forest Department and the Mizo Convention Youth Wing come up with a bigger partnership to plant ornamental and fruit-bearing trees along the roadside throughout Jampui Hill during this coming monsoon season, and work together hand in hand to enforce “protected biodiversity area” status of Thaidawr Tlang, the highest peak of the Hill and its surrounding areas. The partnership is also vying for areas where they can work together to implement one upcoming project called “Jampui Hill
(Ecotourism Development Destination)”, which is a Micro Plan, SCATFORM Project under Tripura Forest Department. Jampui Hill Mizo community, working with government department, once again demonstrates that community involvement is vital for the success of any government project and shows practical example for the rest of Tripura to follow.
