Patal Kanya Jamatia, the president of Tripura People’s Front – a regional party of indigenous people – hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies and vision for the improvement of the North Eastern Region, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday.
In a late night social media post, Deb wrote, “Patal Kanya Ji appreciated Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji’s public welfare policies and his vision for the betterment of the North East”.
Patal Kanya Jamatia along with a delegation of her supporters visited the Chief Minister in Agartala on Sunday.
Deb expressed his happiness after meeting Patal Kanya Jamatia and wrote in a social media post, “Glad to meet with the president of #Tripura People’s Front, Patal Kanya Jamatiya Ji & other representatives of the party today”.
Both the leaders discussed developmental issues of indigenous people of the State. The incumbent BJP-led government has already taken several initiatives for the welfare of different communities of the indigenous people living in remote areas.
“We had a detailed deliberation on the holistic development of our beloved indigenous communities”, Deb wrote.
The meeting between the two leaders came a day after another tribal-based regional party Tipra Motha held a public rally in a show of strength at Astabal ground in Agartala on March 12 last.
Tipra Motha led by Pradyot Kishore Debbarma wrested the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) from CPM in April last year. The politically most important TTAADC has a jurisdiction on over two-thirds of Tripura’s 10,491 sq km area and is home to over 12,16,000 people, of which around 84 per cent are tribals.
