Ahead of the upcoming Union Budget session, eminent economists and other experts led by BJP State President Dr Manik Saha pitched for Tourism including Health Tourism, increasing the interests on Bank deposits and MIS for the senior citizens.   

 

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a pre-Budget dialog on virtual mode with the BJP representatives from Tripura on Sunday. During the dialog, several other important issues pertaining to employment, infrastructural development, and connectivity etc also got priority in the discussion.  

 

Speaking about the webinar, BJP Tripura spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said ,“Dr Manik Saha along with eminent economists and other experts placed a set of proposals before Nirmala Sitharaman during the pre-Budget consultation keeping an eye on multi-sectoral development of the State”.

 

In the webinar, All India BJP vice president Vaijayanta Joy Panda, spokesperson Gopal Krishna Agarwal and Arun Singh were present along with Sitharaman.

 

Bhattacharjee detailed and said, the potentiality of the State in evolving into a place for health tourism was discussed. With the development of Health care sector, common people from neighbouring countries would like to come down to Tripura to access health services. To this end, there is a need to set up an AIIMS like hospital in the State.

 

Besides, experts urged the Union Finance Minister to explore all the sectors to establish rubber based industries in Tripura.

 

“The expert panelists also highlighted the need to expand rail link with Bangladesh for harnessing import-export business. The experts urged the Union Finance Minister to improve the international trades with South-East Asia capitalizing the geographical and road connectivity advantages of Tripura”, Bhattacharjee said.

 

The representatives from Tripura also discussed development and investment potentiality in different historical, archaeological and spiritual as well as natural beauty tourist spots in Tripura. Employability in these sectors and infra development in other sectors were also discussed.

 

“One of the important proposals that the experts placed was relating to giving benefits to the senior citizens by increasing interest rates on MIS and Bank deposits”, Bhattacharjee told the media.  

 

On behalf of the State, Dr Kiran Sankar Chakraborty, Dr Sujit Deb Dr Poonam Mukherjee and Dr Sayan Saha took part in the webinar.

 

The Union Finance Minister assured that she would look into the proposals received from various States and take initiatives for increasing budget in important sectors.
