The ballot box and other poll materials for the Presidential poll reached Agartala on Wednesday (July 13). The Presidential election will be held on July 18 next.
The Ballot Box and other poll materials were collected by Additional Chief Electoral Officer USA Jen Mog and Assistant Returning Officer Suithuifru Mog and arrived at the Agartala Maharaja Bir Bikram airport today evening.
Later, the ballot box and other poll materials were brought to the Assembly strong room and kept under strict security surveillance.
An official of the Election Commission said that necessary arrangements have been made so that all MLAs and members of Parliament can cast their votes on July 18 smoothly.
The voting process will start at 10 am and will continue till 5 pm at the Assembly lobby.
After the voting, the ballot box will be kept in the strong room for 24 hours amid tight security and then it will be sent to the Returning Officer in Delhi on the next day.
On July 5 last, NDA’s Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmur visited Tripura and met the MLAs. The opposition candidate has not visit the State, so far.
There are 60 MLAs in the State Assembly and two Lok Sabha MPs from the State. The MP seat for Rajya Sabha fell vacant after Dr Manik Saha resigned and took oath as an elected member of the Assembly.
