Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury pitched for taking forward the Sports department with the active involvement of concerned personnel – this is important for holistic development and well-being of youths of the State.
To this end, he said, the incumbent government has taken steps in building the sports infrastructures as well as working to provide trainers through transparent recruitment policies.
He reiterated the commitment of the State government to develop the sports and games sector in the State.
The Minister inaugurated the first triennial state conference organized by Tripura Physical Teachers Employees Union and Youth Affairs Sports Workers Association at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala on Sunday.
Addressing the participants, Chowdhury said, sport is the only medium through which the youth can achieve physical and mental development as well as sports assists in character building and maintaining national unity.
To encourage the youth to be engaged in sports activities, the sports department and physical education teachers have to play an important role, he said.
The Minister listed out several initiatives that the Sports and Youth Affairs department undertook for the improvement of sports and games. He assured that the availability of sports items would not be a problem – however, concerned persons would have to put forward the requisition at the right time.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s vision, Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Prayas, Sab ka Vikas, the Minister urged the physical Teachers and Sports workers to work together for speedy development in the sports sector.
He also pointed out, in the coming days we have to move forward with new thoughts and work ethic.
“To this end, the government emphasized transparent recruitment policy and recently announced the recruitment of Physical Instructors to meet up the demand”, he commented.
