Even as his hands were of no use, Pralay Dey gradually started writing with his foot – and truly made writing with foot so simple, so fast.

Agartala (Tripura), Jun 10: He is an epitome of sheer grit and rock solid determination – born with two underdeveloped hands at Matabari area in Gomati district of Tripura, Pralay Dey is truly a living inspiration of will power and perseverance. Even as his hands were of no use, he gradually started writing with his right foot – and truly made writing with foot so simple, so fast.

This year, Pralay appeared in Madhyamik Examination from Udaipur Matabari HS School and passed the exam in FIRST DIVISION with letter marks in two subjects. His extraordinary work and achievement, quite deservingly, drew media attention after Madhyamik results were announced – even Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb was awestruck when he saw today Pralay writing with his feet so ‘normally’, ‘effortlessly’.

The Chief Minister felicitated Pralay at his residence today and declared all the support from the part of government.

Born to father Sujan Kumar Dey – a daily wage earner and mother Putul Guha – an Anganwadi worker, Pralay is also a good artist. “I took my disability as a challenge”, he said, and ‘Hats off to Pralay’, his neighbours commented with a visible sense of pride and joy.

A peep talk with Pralay revealed immense courage and perseverance of his parents as they encouraged, helped and inspired Pralay to practice with his foot. With unending flow of love and inspiration, Pralay gradually became comfortable and picked up speed – so much so that, he scripted his success story in Madhyamik Exams with his right foot.

Moved by his indomitable spirit and passion, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced that Tripura government would now shoulder all the financial responsibilities of  ‘Specially abled’ Pralay Dey.

“Already, he is getting the allowances as entitled to from the Social Welfare and Social Education Department. We would also try to take him under more and more government schemes for his better future”, Deb added.  He also said that the District Magistrate Gomati would look into the matter. He had been directed by the Principal Secretary already, the Chief Minister told the media.

“I want to pursue Arts in Higher Secondary and dreaming to becoming a Professor in future”, Pralay said in a confident tone. Speaking to his peers, Pralay suggested them not to surrender to any hurdles, instead look at hurdles as challenge and work to win.

A silent but obvious pray for the courageous and talented Pralay was on the air as he – along with his parents – strode out of the Chief Minister’s residence. With Government is fully by side, Pralay is confident of realizing his dreams.

All the best, Pralay !
