Giving a boost to improve rail connectivity in Tripura, the Ministry of Railways has given the green signal to a proposal from Tripura Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, for the operation of an additional Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) train in the Agartala-Sabroom route.

Currently, three pairs of DEMU trains are already operational in the route, playing a crucial role in providing vital rail connectivity to the people of South Tripura.

Expressing his gratitude, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha extended thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, for their approval of the new train. This development is expected to bolster the existing rail service in Tripura and bring significant benefits to the people of the state.

The newly approved DEMU train will make scheduled stops at multiple stations along its route, including Sekerkote, Bishalgarh, Bishramganj, Udaipur, Garjee, Santir Bazar, Belonia, Jolaibari, Thailik Twisa, and Manu Bazar, effectively enhancing accessibility for passengers.

As per the proposed schedule, the train will depart from Agartala at 2.15 pm and reach Sabroom at 4.45 pm daily.

On the return journey, the train will depart from Sabroom at 5 pm and arrive back in Agartala at 7.30 pm daily.

Keeping in mind that the southern part of the State hosts several Buddhists and archeological sites, the introduction of this new train service marks a promising milestone in Tripura’s transportation infrastructure, fostering better connectivity and facilitating smoother travel for the people as well as the tourists.
