‘Rangoli Utsav’ throughout the state on the eve of Poush Sankranti on January 14 was held with the initiative of the Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura on ‘Peaceful Election’, ‘Communal Harmony’ and ‘Accessible Election’.

 

Rangoli-Utsav-Tripura-ElectionsAccording to a Government press release, till 3.00 PM the report from 51 Assembly Constituencies indicated that 1,64,363 households participated in the Rangoli Utsav. It is likely that the figure may cross 2 lakhs for all 60 Assembly Constituencies in the State.

 

In an attempt to make the ensuing general Election to Tripura Legislative Election 2023 peaceful and violence-free, Chief Electoral Officer of Tripura, Kiran Gitte has taken various initiatives. On December 31, 2022, two missions namely ‘Mission Zero Poll Violence’ and ‘Mission 929’ were launched.

 

As a part of these Missions, all the Returning Officers are conducting Assembly Constituency-wise sensitization workshops involving representatives from political parties, eminent persons, police, social workers, media, CAPF officials.

 

Gitte appealed to all the households of Tripura to take part in this festival by making rangoli in their house. In every Assembly Constituency, one prominent road has been selected for making rangolis on these themes.

 

The State level programme was organized in front of the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhaban, Agartala where the Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha , the Chief Electoral Officer, Kiran Gitte, the District Magistrate & Collector, West Tripura Debapriya Bardhan and other Officers have participated. Addressing the media, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha told that in spite of differences of opinion, the people of Tripura believe in peace and communal harmony. He congratulated all the people who participated in the Rangoli Utsav.

 

Kiran Gitte told a mission has been set up to conduct the ensuing Election with zero poll violence. For the furtherance of the message of the Mission, various activities have been taken up.

 

To cater this message to every household, the Rangoli Utsav was organized involving all the households of Tripura. The Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to all the households of the State to participate.
