The Rath Yatra is celebrated across in Tripura with religious fervour and enthusiasm on Friday – however, seven persons including a TSR Jawan were injured at three different places in Santirbazar and Udaipur area.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha offered prayers in ISKCON in Agartala today morning. Later, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Janajati Welfare Minister Rampada Jamatia. AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder and TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy took part in ISKCON Rath Yatra.

From Jagannath Bari in Agartala, a chariot carrying divine siblings – Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balaram travelled through city roads today.

In Agartala, Rath Yatra was celebrated peacefully and a large number of devotees joined Rath Yatra Utsav organized by the Jagannath Bari and ISKCON. Besides, children also, as usual, brought out chariots.

Even as the Rath Yatra was peaceful, total four persons were wounded in two mishaps at Debdaru and Baikhora under Santirbazar sub-division.

Chaos prevailed at Debdaru, after a domesticated elephant which was brought to pull the Chariot started running. As a result, the chariot overturned and was broken to pieces. At least three persons were injured.

In another incident at Baikhora, another domesticated elephant created mayhem prior to chariot pulling. In this incident, one TSR jawan was injured.

Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the Rath Yatra in Udaipur. However, a freak mishap occurred at Udaipur during the Rath Yatra and three women sustained injuries.

When the chariot of the divine siblings reached at Radha Kishorepur police station area the tip of the chariot broke down on devotees.

The Rath Yatra festival was celebrated in other subdivision al towns today.

On this auspicious day, people from all around joined the traditional Rath Yatra irrespective of ethnicity in Kalyanpur.

The 100 year-old Rath Yatra festival of Dwarikapur Kalibari was celebrated on Friday. Devotees from different places including Khowai, Teliamura, Kalyanpur, Gilatali and Bagan Bazar joined in pulling the rope of the giant Rath.

The festival was also celebrated in other places of Kalyanpur including Tutabari, Kunjaban and Ghilatali.

After a gap of two years, Jagannath, Subhadra and Balaram went to the Aunty’s house in a chariot instead of tomtom as during the last two years, the divine siblings went ‘Aunt’s House’ as per the religious customs in tomtom due to Covid pandemic.

The traditional Rath Yatra was started from Chaitanya Ashram in Teliamura. Thousands of devotees from different places of Teliamura attended the auspicious festival.

Along with the other parts of the state, the traditional Rath Yatra was also organized at various places of Gandacehrra Sub-division including Gandachhara Sadar Bazar, Jagbandhu Para, Boalkhali, Raishyabari.
