A five-day regional workshop on State Income Estimates and Related Aggregates concluded in Agartala on Friday.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Minister of Statistics, Bikash Debbarma, on September 23. The workshop was organized by the Department of Planning (Statistics), Government of Tripura, with the support of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Government of India.
Officials from the statistics departments of 12 states, including Tripura, participated in the workshop.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Abhishek Chandra, Special Secretary, Department of Statistics, congratulated the statistics officials of various states for participating in the workshop.
He said that such regional workshops provide an opportunity for officials of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation to exchange views with statistics officials from various states. Such workshops are important for accurately determining State Income Estimates and Related Aggregates.
State Income Estimates, along with GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product), NSDP (Net State Domestic Product), and PCI (Per Capita Income), play a significant role in the economic development of a state.
This workshop will play a supportive role in determining the state’s income and production by increasing expertise and facilitating sound decision-making through the exchange of views among experts from various states.
It is also expected to create a collaborative environment among the participating states, the National Statistical Office (NSO), and the Department of Economics and Statistics (DES) Tripura for accurate income estimation at the national and state levels.
It is expected to boost efforts to make state-level income estimates more accurate.
Dr. B.B. Nanda, Director, Department of Statistics, Gouraang Misra, Director, Department of Statistics, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Devananda Riang, Director, Department of Statistics, Tripura, were present at the closing ceremony.
Special Secretary Abhishek Chandra presented certificates to representatives of various states at the closing ceremony.
