Chairman of Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Jagadish Debbarma escaped unhurt from a major road accident on Tuesday by a whisker.

In the accident, at least, five other persons who were accompanying Debbarma in a separate vehicle sustained injuries.

According to sources, the Chairman of the TTAADC was going to Kanchanpur in North Tripura along with his escorting vehicles. As the convoy of Jagadish Debbarma reached Barmura Thermanl Project area, his escort car had a head-on collision with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction.

In the accident, four TSR jawans and the driver of the ill-fated vehicle were injured. All the wounded persons were rushed to the Teliamura sub-divisional Hospital. The injured persons are undergoing treatment in the Hospital.

Speaking to the media, Jagadish Debbarma confirmed that four TSR Jawans and driver of the escorting vehicle were injured and the car in which Debbarma was travelling had a narrow escape.

Appreciating the driver’s effort, he said prudence and alertness of the driver helped in averting a major road mishap today.
