Students and youngsters came out in numbers to offer prayers and enjoy Saraswati Puja with fun and frolic on Saturday. Since morning, the Sun was playing a hide-and-seek game – but, unlike Friday, there was no rain today. This has come as a boon for the puja revelers.
Dressed in colourful attire, students of schools, colleges and Universities attended the Puja in their educational institutions with usual religious fervor and took Prasad. The Ujjayanta Palace compound, City Centre and other popular meeting junctions were full of cheerful young smiles.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb attended Saraswati Puja at the Ramkrishna Vivekananda Vidyamandir at Dhaleswar in Agartala today. As part of the Puja observance, the students of the Vidyamandir held a painting exhibition.
“Amazed to see the art works”, commented the Chief Minister after viewing the exhibition.
On the auspicious day, Lal Bahadur Club of Agartala with assistance from Purvaudaya – an eminent Social Organization of the State – held a programme to distributed School Bags among the children and blankets.
A relatively shinny day with cool breeze offered a golden chance to younger generation to enjoy the day with their friends to the fullest. Not just the youngsters, children and kids – many accompanied by their guardians – also participated in the puja in a jovial mood.
A 18-feet tall idol of Saraswati Devi in Agartala has drawn crowds. Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), Dipak Majumder unveiled the idol on Friday. Yuva Morcha of 40 Ward under the Agartala Municipal Corporation organized the puja.
With Covid incidences are waning and restrictions are easing out, people did not miss the opportunity to have a good day – while most of the people and children were seen wearing masks as mandated, but many other youths were found eschewing masks.
Even as jovial mood prevailed today, the penultimate day of the Puja was spoiled due to cloudy sky along with spells of dazzling and traders were disappointed.
“Rains spoiled our business”, commented vendors at Maharaj Ganj Bazar. However, the euphoria on Saturday among the youngsters was noticeble.
