An executive body meeting of the Seva Dal of the Tripura Pradesh Congress was held at Agartala Congress Bhawan on Sunday. Also, the activists held a protest programme against price rise.
PCC president Birjait Sinha and Congress leader and state in-charge Szarita Laitphlang chaired the meeting which mainly focused on greater participation of seva dal to strengthen the congress party ahead of the 2023 general assembly election.
Congress leader Szarita Laitphlang said that the Seva Dal is one of the key units of the Congress party. The meeting aimed to make a constructive strategy and policy for the Seva Dal ahead of the 2023 election in Tripura, she said.
The State Congress is also planning for the participation in the ongoing Azadi ka Gaurav Padyatra which started from Gujarat and is walking towards New Delhi, she told reporters, adding that from Tripura also a large section of leaders along with the workers of the Seva Dal shall join the Azadi ka Gaurav padyatra later.
Besides, Seva Dal activists staged protests in Agartala on Sunday against the unabated rise in prices of petroleum products and other essentials. Seva Dal supporters said, along with the hike in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, prices of essential medicines are also increasing day by day causing serious financial burden on people.
Condemning the price hikes, a protest was staged in front of the Congress Bhawan on behalf of the Congress Seva Dal and Modi’s effigy was burnt at the protest site. Congress President Birjit Sinha, former MLA Ashish Saha, Nitya Gopal Rudrapal of Seva Dal and others were present.
Birajit Sinha said that Sonia Gandhi started a Mehangai-free India campaign.
