To promote and propagate the visual Artists of North East Region, the Lalit Kala Academy established its first North Eastern Regional Centre at Agartala and the lease deed was signed in December 2020. To further enhance the facilities and to bring the artists of the North East Region in the mainstream, providing scholarships was introduced in the Agartala Centre for the Visual Artist of the North East Region.

The Academy has several Regional Centres across the country from where around eight scholars per regional centres are being selected for scholarships – however, as many as 15 scholars of North East Region were selected for scholarships. It is a historic moment for the visual artist of the region, opined an artist.

Another important factor to note that 15 scholarships will be provided exclusively for the North East Region and the scholarship amount has also been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.
