Egiye Chalo Sangha emerged victorious in the inaugural match of the Chandra Memorial Football Tournament, organized by Shyamsundar Jewellers’ Company. They defeated Nine Bullets Club by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.

Satyam Sharma of Egiye Chalo Sangha was adjudged the ‘Man of the Match’.

From the very beginning of the match held at Umakanta Mini Stadium, Egiye Chalo displayed excellent football. Coach Sujit Haldar had set up his team in a 4-2-4 formation to focus on attack.

Attacking football helped Egiye Chalo to score within the first eight minutes of the first half.

Satyam Sharma scored the goal with a powerful right-footed outswinging shot from nearly 30 yards, leaving the Bullets’ goalkeeper Amit Jamatia completely baffled. Egiye Chalo went 1-0 up. Nine Bullets then fought back to level the match.

On the other hand, Egiye Chalo Sangha slowed down their pace slightly to protect their lead. Nine Bullets launched several attacks but failed to score. The first half ended with Egiye Chalo Sangha leading 1-0.

Early in the second half, Nine Bullets found the equalizer. A well-planned attack resulted in a goal scored by Tulunga inside the box. The score was leveled at 1-1.

In the 34th minute of the second half, Asif Ali Molla, a defender for Egiye Chalo Sangha, scored the winning goal. Bullets’ goalkeeper Amit failed to catch a corner kick, and Asif Ali tapped the loose ball into the net. Egiye Chalo went ahead 2-1.

Bullets then increased their attacking tempo but their forwards failed to find the net. Ultimately, Egiye Chalo team secured a 2-1 victory and all three points.

Satyajit Debroy officiated the match. Former footballer Manik Sutradhar kicked off the league by kicking a ball before the match.

Other dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony included Rupak Saha, the owner of Shyamsundar Jewellers, Ratan Saha, the patron of the Tripura Football Association, and president Pranab Sarkar, among others.
