Sparrow, after seeing the Police, made a desperate bid to flee away – but this time, Sparrow could not evade the Police net.   

 

Tripura-Police-Heroin-GanjaPolice of Teliamura made a big catch after they netted ‘Sparrow’ – the notorious drug dealer of Teliamura with heroin.

 

Acting on tip off provided by the local people, Police personnel led by SDPO Sonacharan Jamatia along with TSR jawans raided the house of Prasenjit Sarkar aka Sparrow at Netaji Nagar in Teliamura on Wednesday.

 

Sensing Police presence, sparrow ran away and jumped into Khowai River with a cache of heroin.

 

However, Police were ready and promptly got hold of and nabbed Sparrow. Police brought him to Teliamura Police Station. Police recovered 15-20 Heroin-filled containers and many empty containers along with other articles worth more than Rs 1 lakh from his possession.

 

After a preliminary interrogation, Police detained one Rajiv Saha, a tomtom driver by profession who reportedly was Sparrow’s accomplice.

 

In a separate incident, Amtali police led by SDPO Ashis Das held a drug peddler at Panchamukh Singhamura area with 13 grams suspected heroin on Wednesday evening.

 

According to Officer-in-Charge of Amtali police station, Siddhartha Sankar Kar, based on secret information, the policemen along with the SDPO conducted a raid at Singhamura area.

 

Subir Saha (42), resident of Netajinagar in Bishalgarh, was detained along with 13 grams of suspected heroin, one car and one mobile phone, he said.

 

After preliminary interrogation, Amtali police in collaboration with Bishalgarh police raided the house of the drug dealer. During the search, two more packets of heroin (17 grams), cash Rs. 47,500 and 1000 empty vials were seized by the police.

 

According to police, a specific case would be registered against the accused under NDPS Act.

 

As part of the anti-drug raid, Bagbasa Police recovered 94 kg ganja worth Rs 10 lakh from a Guwahati bound a lorry, Police sources said. Driver of the lorry, Rabiul Mia (22) was arrested and a case under the NDPS Act was lodged.
