If everything goes as per the plan, a centre of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) will soon be seen functioning in Agartala.

A delegation of SRFTI accompanied by Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury visited the proposed site—Nazrul Kalakshetra on Wednesday.

The three-member team included Director-in-Charge Samiran Datta, Registrar Dr. Sushrut Sharma and Sduipta Bhowmuk.

According to the SRFTI officials, short courses on film studies would be introduced in the centre at the initial stage.

Speaking to the media, Chowdhury said, “As decided in the meeting with the officials during my visit to SRFTI Kolkata, the team arrived in the state to inspect the available infrastructure and other facilities.

He also mentioned that the state government had already sanctioned funds for procurement of necessary items required for the SRFTI campus.

The ICA minister also held an important meeting with the SRFTI officials at the conference hall of the State Secretariat soon after visiting the proposed site. ICA Director Ratan Biswas was present. (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
