State Move from Terror Era to Mainstream Development: CM

Agartala Feb 2: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today issued a powerful reminder of Tripura’s transformation, stating that the days when the Janajati (tribal) community was “misguided and pushed towards terrorism” are now firmly in the past.

Speaking at the inauguration of a multi-sectoral development package in the Killa block of Udaipur, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state’s current peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of opportunity.

“Earlier, our brothers and sisters in the Janajati community were misled, leading to decades of suffering and stalled progress,” Dr. Saha said. “The present government has freed the state from that dark era, bringing the community back into the mainstream of development. Real progress for India is impossible without the overall development of our tribal people.”

To back this vision, the CM unveiled two new 50-seat hostels at Dashrath Deb Memorial English Medium Model School and Devta Mura High School, built at a cost of ₹5.2 crore. He noted that a lack of safe, well-planned housing has historically hindered the education of tribal students. By stabilizing their living conditions, the government aims to ensure that the “light of development” reaches the most remote corners of the state.

Stressing that his administration believes in implementation over rhetoric, Dr Saha today inaugurated four critical projects that establish a new blueprint for rural development in Tripura. The projects—spanning sports, education, and healthcare—are designed to create a self-reliant society within the Killa block.

The CM highlighted three essential pillars of growth:

  • Sports: A modern ₹5.36 crore astroturf synthetic football stadium in Atharobhola to nurture grassroots talent.
  • Health: A state-of-the-art 10-bed Primary Health Centre in Nityabazar (₹5.4 crore), bringing quality medical services to the village doorstep.
  • Education: Enhanced female participation and specialized student hostels to prevent academic disruption.

“Killa is no longer just a locality; it is a shining example of development,” Dr. Saha remarked. Beyond local community projects, the Chief Minister today highlighted Tripura as a burgeoning “green and promising hub” in Northeast India. During his visit to the Gomati district, he provided an update on the state’s massive infrastructure overhaul, which includes the construction of six new national highways and a complete modernization of the railway network.

The CM revealed that the recent Cabinet meeting approved several new schemes aimed at accelerating the state’s GDP and connectivity. “Tripura is moving from a state of promises to a state of projects,” the CM stated, citing the successful rollout of the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). With international-standard sports fields and a rapidly expanding health grid, the administration is building the physical framework necessary to attract investment and boost the local economy.
