Chief Minister of Tripura Prof. Dr. Manik Saha delivered a poignant message on the significance of transparency in public service and the importance of a clean environment for overall well-being during his participation in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ program.
This event, organized to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, was held at MBB Chowmuhani, adjacent to Kaman Chowmuhani in Agartala on Sunday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to action through his Mann Ki Baat programme for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, resonated across the nation.
Dr. Saha, in his address, underlined the notable strides taken since the initiation of the Swachh Bharat Mission in 2014, thanks to the guidance of Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister had urged citizens to dedicate at least one hour to ‘Shramdaan’ (voluntary labor) to foster a cleaner and more peaceful environment.
Under this directive, the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ program saw active participation across various regions of the state, reaffirming the commitment to the ‘Swachh Bharat, Swachh Tripura’ vision. Dr. Saha also stressed that achieving cleanliness in Tripura necessitates not only physical efforts but also a transformation in mindset.
The Chief Minister’s remarks underscored the interconnectedness of a clean environment and good health, emphasizing that healthy citizens are the cornerstone of a robust and prosperous India.
In addition to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the event saw the presence of Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, and several other high-ranking officials.
This gathering on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary served as a powerful reminder of the collective commitment to transparency, cleanliness, and the ongoing journey towards a healthier, more prosperous India.
The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme was held in different parts across the State. Cleaning drives were taken up in State and Central government offices, markets and other public places. Apart from the government officials and employees, Ministers, MLAs and BJP leaders took part in the drives and urged people to maintain cleanliness.
