Tripura is ready to roll out Covid vaccination drive on January 3 next for the children aged between 15-18 years. Target is set to vaccinate 2 lakh 13 thousand eligible children.
The online registration through Cowin app will start for all the districts from January 1 (Saturday), said Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Siddharth Jaswal in Agartala today.
He also said, drive to administer precautionary doses of Covid Vaccine for health workers, frontline workers and people aged 60+ years with co-morbidity will begin from January 10 next across the State. There are 91 thousand 200 persons (excluding the health workers and frontline workers) with age 60 years or above and with co-morbidities.
Speaking to the media, the NHM Director said, a meeting through Video Conference was held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary recently with the district officials to discuss the New guidelines for children’s vaccination as well as overall covid situation in the State. District health personnel were imparted trainings on Covid Portal and New Guidelines on December 31 last.
Jaswal revealed that as per the guidelines, Covaxin will be administered among the children of age group 15-18 years. Beneficiaries will need to produce either Aadhar Cards or school IDs to register.
“A total of 354 vaccination centres have been set up across the State for this purpose. Out of this, 187 centres have been set up in West District while 33 in Dhalai, 18 in North, 13 in Unakoti, 28 in South, 32 in Gomati, 22 in Khowai and 21 in Sepahijala districts have been set up. The list of centres will be released by the concerned district on Saturday – the West district has already released the vax centres and online registrations through Cowin Apps have become operational”, Jaswal said.
He added beneficiaries may opt for online registration or on-site registration.
Focusing present vaccination status in Tripura, the NHM Director said, a total of 46 lakh 97 thousand 645 vaccines had been administered. A total of 25 lakh 69 thousand 550 persons received the first dose and among them 21 lakh 28 thousand 095 beneficiaries had also received the second dose.
