Board exams conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) will commence from March 1, 2024.
The Madhyamik exams will begin on March 2 and be ended on March 23, 2024. The HS(+2) exams will commence on March 1 and will be ended in March 30.
Dr. Dhananjay Gon Chowdhury, the president of TBSE, while addressing a press conference in Agartala on Tuesday, informed the media, “The Madhyamik (Class X) exam will kick off from March 02, while the Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinations will commence from March 01”.
He added, for both Madhyamik and the Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinations, students will sit for exams on English paper on the first day.
Dr Gon Chowdhury also said, starting on March 2, the Madhyamik exams will be over on March 23. The Higher Secondary (+2) exams, will be completed on March 30 starting on March 1.
This year’s board exams, however, will witness a drop in number of candidates.
Pointing to this, Dr. Gon Chowdhury highlighted a significant shift this year due to the introduction of the Vidyajyoti Scheme. “We’ve witnessed a decrease in the number of candidates compared to previous years,” he mentioned.
The estimated count for Madhyamik examinees stands at 38,538, and for Higher Secondary, it’s 27,608—marking a substantial drop of approximately 10,000 candidates compared to the last academic year.
To facilitate these examinations, 69 centers have been designated for the Madhyamik examination and 144 venues for the Higher Secondary exam. These venues span across eight districts in the state.
Ensuring a smooth and efficient conduct of the exams, Dr. Gon Chowdhury assured that the board has implemented all necessary measures. Despite the decrease in candidate numbers, the TBSE remains committed to upholding the integrity and quality of the examination process.
