The dream of a Safai worker in Tripura to complete the Madhyamik exam became true. Beating the odds, she, Sutapa Rudra Pal, appeared in Madhyamik exam together with her son, Pritvijit Rudra Pal.
The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) announced the results of the Madhymik and HS+2 exams on Wednesday last (July 6).
Sutapa Rudra Pal works as a Safai worker at Kirit Bikram Institution (KBI). She got married around 24 years ago when she was supposed to appear in Madhyamik, but she could not.
As time elapsed, she bacame a mother of a girl and a boy. Working hard, she managed to marry off her daughter. Her dream to pass in Madhyamik exam remained buried in her mind but never died.
As her son was preparing to appear in the Madhyamik exam this year, she too started preparation.
Neither Sutapa nor her son had any private tutors. It was their indomitable spirit and determination that guided them on the path of an audacious journey.
They relied and focused on their self-study with the help of the KBI school teacher to realise their dreams.
As the results were announced, the mother-son duo had a reason to rejoice.
Sutapa Rudra Pal scored 280 marks and successfully passed the Madhyamik exam while her son Prithviraj scored 317 and passed in the first division.
Amidst joy, the mother-son duo acknowledged the support of the school teachers.
Sutapa Rudra Pal does not want to pursue her studies but focus on supporting her son to build a bright career.
Prithviraj told the media he wants to study Humanities – and wants to do Honors course in English.
