National president of BJP Yuva Morcha and Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya made a clarion call to the young people to join in the battle against the drug and tweeted recently, “Youth must be encouraged to move from Spirits to Spirituality”.

Surya who arrived in Tripura on December 21 in a two day visit, expressed concern at the drug menace and said drug is a matter of serious concern as it is a threat to the security of the nation as well as destroying the youths of the nation who constitute 60 per cent of the country’s total population.

Talking about Northeast, in particular Tripura, Surya said the region is located at the geographically sensitive area. And, this is making the region prone to narco trading, he said.

Surya asserted the Central government under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah is combating the drug menace effectively and the administration is also actively working to confiscate and destroy drugs.

In support of his claim, the Lok Sabha MP said, “The war on drugs has never before been as effective as it is today under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has ensured 200% more registered cases, 260% increase in arrests and 11% more conviction. Moreover, 25 times more drugs confiscated & destroyed in last 8 years.”.

Besides, Tejasvi Surya who also spoke on the drug issue in Lok Sabha recently, wrote series of tweets warning the youths about the severe affects and ways to combat the menace.

“It is said that drugs is a sure way to hell, disguised as heaven. Young people who are victims of this abuse must be helped, rehabilitated & supported by society in their recovery.

I appeal to young people to say no to drugs always – drugs corrodes the very vitality of life!”, he wrote in a tweet.

Surya suggested, “War against drugs needs to be fought at multiple fronts. Engaging the young through challenging and purposive initiatives through sports, yoga, vigorous physical & spiritual activities keeps them away from distractions. All these ministries must come together in this effort.

As Tripura like other parts of the North East and rest of the country is facing drug menace, Tejasvi Surya’s attempt to encourage the youth to shun the drugs will boost, Government’s efforts in curbing the drug abuse in Tripura.
