Three individuals engaged in cyber fraud have swindled approximately Rs 3.5 lakhs from two businessmen in Kadamtala, located in the North Tripura District.

Their deceptive scheme involved meeting the targeted victims face-to-face and manipulating their mobile phones under the pretext of inquiring about the Corona Vaccine.

However, their criminal activities were brought to light by a crucial clue left behind, leading to the prompt apprehension of the culprits by the North District Police, under the leadership of SP Bhanu Pada Chakraborty.

Local sources said a father-daughter duo, identified as Mithu Gour and Laxmi Gour, approached a businessman named Satyaranjan Nath in Kadamtala on June 29. They posed as individuals entrusted in gathering information regarding the administration of Corona vaccines to people – Nath and his family members.

To accomplish their scheme, they took Nath’s mobile phone, which he had utilized for booking his Covid vaccine appointment. After seemingly verifying the booking details, they handed over his phone and proceeded to inquire about other vaccine-related matters.

Meantime, prior to their departure, Nath astutely managed to capture photographs of the scooty in which the Gours arrived – this photograph ultimately served as crucial evidence for their subsequent capture.

Within thirty minutes of their departure, Satyaranjan Nath received a text message notifying him of an Rs 82,000 deduction from his Bandhan bank account.

Similarly, the fraudsters duped another trader, Sandip Deb from Premtala, successfully making off with Rs 2 lakh and 70 thousand. Both Nath and Deb promptly filed complaints with the Kadamtala Police Station.

Utilizing the photographs of the scooty obtained from Satyaranjan Nath, the police swiftly apprehended Mithu Gour and Laxmi Gour. Subsequent questioning of the arrested duo led to the arrest of another individual, Gautam Biswas, hailing from Baruakandi.

The police are actively investigating the case and endeavoring to identify any other individuals involved in this fraudulent operation.
