Three high school students from Tripura are among the 50 students who have been invited to tour Japan as part of the Sakura Programme of the Japan Science and Technology Agency, said Special Secretary of the Education Department, Ravel Hemendra Kumar on Thursday.
He said, the Department of Science and Technology under the Government of India is implementing the Sakura Science High School Programme of Japan Science and Technology Agency, where winners of the standard program are invited to Japan. Under this Sakura programme, Japan Science and Technology has invited 50 high school students from India to visit Japan in 2024.
Three selected students from Tripura are Mohammad Khurshid Alam, a student of Bhagabannagar High School in Unakoti district, Madhurima Das, a student of Shishu Bihar HS School in Agartala, and Shakib Saha, a student of Jagatpur High School in Mohanpur, Ravel Hemendra Kumar said while addressing a press meet in Agartala today.
He also said, the 51st State Level Children’s Science Exhibition will begin in Agartala on Friday. The exhibition will continue till February 3, said Special Secretary of the Education Department, Ravel Hemendra Kumar on Thursday.
In the press conference, the Special Secretary informed the media that the Children’s Science Exhibition will be held at Maharani Tulsibati Higher Secondary Girls’ School under the initiative of SCERT. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will inaugurate the two-day 51st State Level Children’s Science Exhibition.
The theme of this year’s exhibition is “Science and Technology for Social Welfare”. Several other themes have been included under this theme. These include health, agriculture, communication and transport, environment-friendly lifestyle, constructive thinking etc.
The Special Secretary of the Education Department said a procession was held in Agartala on Thursday in which students from various schools in Agartala took part. The procession aimed at creating awareness about millet food as part of the State Level Children’s Science Exhibition.
