Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced ‘goons at door’ scheme and transformed elections into a farce, alleged Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress president Subal Bhowmik.

Bhowmik went to Dharmanagar in North Tripura on Saturday to campaign for the party’s Jubarajnagar candidate for June 23 by-polls, Mrinal Kanti Nath.

Speaking to the media, Bhowmik came down heavily and launched a verbal tirade against ruling BJP government and showered praises on Mamata Banerjee’s model of governance in Bengal.

“Mamata Banerjee introduced Government at the doorstep – whereas, BJP government established a regime of goons and miscreants at doorstep”, Bhowmik alleged.

The TMC State president referred to the instance of Brishaketu Debbarma and said, the sitting MLA of Simna, Debbarma rendered his resignation letters to the Speaker twice – however, no by-poll is being held as the ruling BJP does not have organizational strength there. No one has ever seen such a government in the State”.

He claimed that TMC candidates would win in by-polls in all the four Assembly Constituencies, Bhowmik reiterated, people are looking for a viable alternative and the Trinamool Congress is the only viable alternative force of the people of this state.

Commenting on Trinamool Congress candidate Dr Mrinal Kanti Nath in Yuvraj Nagar Centre, Bhowmik said Dr Nath is a highly educated man and is getting huge response from people wherever he is going for the campaign.

He also alleged elections in the State became a farce from 2019 and this time also, the ruling party will indulge in making it a farce, once again. Bhowmik, however, commented that people tolerated it enough and could not be restrained.

Later, 22 voters from 6 families joined Trinamool Congress at Dharmanagar today, party sources said.
