In a significant step towards environmental conservation and preserving the green cover of Tripura, Director-General of Forests & Special Secretary (DGF&SS) Chandra Prakash Goyal, flagged off a ‘Tree Ambulance’ at Hatipara near Agartala under the West Tripura District.
The ‘Tree Ambulance’ flagging off ceremony was held at Hatipara in front of Prakriti Bhavan on Tuesday marking the official launch of this innovative initiative.
‘Tree Ambulance’ facility aims at providing emergency lifesaving services to trees, promoting their well-being and preserving as well as protecting the bio-diversity of the State.
Notably, a delegation of senior-level officers from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change led by Director-General of Forests & Special Secretary (DGF&SS) Chandra Prakash Goyal reached the State on Tuesday.
The officers started their visit to Tripura by paying tribute to the Forest Martyrs of Tripura at Forest Memorial located at Oxygen Park at Shalbagan, West Tripura.
They have explored the various facets of Oxygen Park, including its flora and avian biodiversity, well-maintained nature trail, exotic bird cage, tribal gallery, Orchidarium, yoga corner, log hut etc.
Following the flag-off event of the ‘Tree Ambulance’, the Director General of Forests presided over a review meeting of the Tripura Forest Department, where the progress of ongoing initiatives, challenges, and future plans were discussed in order to ensure effective management and conservation of the state’s forest resources.
The team will be proceeding to Dharmanagar tomorrow for attending two significant programmes of Forest Department Tripura namely, State Level Vanamahotsava and Agar Wood Growers’ Conclave.
This visit presents a unique opportunity for Tripura to showcase its rich biodiversity, and successful conservation efforts, and explore avenues for further progress with the collaboration and support of the Government of India.
