Traffic awareness: School students hold Saraswati Yatra in Dharmanagar
Tripura is witnessing rapid increase in the number of private cars and two-wheelers as well as increase in incidents of road mishaps across the State. In view of the emerging situation, the need for developing traffic awareness from childhood has become more pressing than ever.
Dharmanagar, Nov 22: In a commendable initiative, Tripureshwari Shishu Mandir English Medium School of Padmapur in Dharmanagar under the North Tripura District organized today an innovative traffic awareness campaign.
Titled ‘Saraswati Yatra’, the campaign was held in collaboration with the Dharmanagar Traffic Department.
Young students from the school stepped out of the classroom and into the streets, assisting traffic personnel at key intersections across the town.
Standing beside traffic police officers, the children actively helped operate manual traffic signals, guided pedestrians, and participated in basic traffic management practices.
The initiative aimed at instilling a sense of road discipline and civic responsibility among students early in life.
Officials from the Dharmanagar Traffic Department, including ASI Atika Das, attended the program and expressed appreciation for the school’s effort.
The department stated that such awareness activities would continue in the future to motivate the next generation to follow traffic rules and help minimize accidents in urban areas.
Residents of Dharmanagar also lauded the initiative, stating that involving children directly in traffic management would not only inspire behavioral change among road users but also strengthen community participation in maintaining traffic discipline.
With roads becoming increasingly congested due to the surge in motorbikes and private vehicles, such educational interventions are being seen as timely and meaningful.
Educators and officials emphasized that developing road safety awareness from a young age is essential to reducing traffic violations, preventing accidents, and building responsible citizens for the future.
