He decided to take control of the situation with his own hand and start to become self-reliant without depending on anyone’s mercy. In a planned manner, he started his new journey – from darkness to prosperity.
Despair and depression became constant companions of Shubhankar Acharya – he was slipping into a terrible condition. Unable to support his family, Acharya was squirming in agony. As the darkness around him started to thicken, a sense of desperation prevailed and instead of surrendering to the situation, he decided to fight back so that he can move ahead in life holding his head high.
Subhankar Acharya aka Arjun is one of the terminated 10323 teachers. He hails from Gamaibari under Teliamura in Tripura. Being the lone breadwinner for his family, Arjun found himself in a terrible and hapless condition after he lost his job – a government job. Many of the colleagues also found them in a similar pitiful situation. Some of them joined in agitation demanding jobs while some others were looking for alternative earning opportunities. Arjun, intelligent enough, opted for the latter.
He decided to take control of the situation with his own hand and start to become self-reliant without depending on anyone’s mercy. In a planned manner, he started his new journey – from darkness to prosperity.
He managed to construct two water reservoirs in his home and started fish cultivation using the biofloc method. After initial success in biofloc farming, he diversified into activities. Along with biofloc, he started poultry and duckery farming. His fortune began to change – as he once again, found himself ‘worthy’. His determination with hard work and perseverance helped him to tide over his darkest phase in life.
“Now, I am earning a stable income – but I do not want to stop here and continue to expand. I am planning to manufacture a floor cleaner that kills germs”, Arjun said.
Although he is confident in his abilities, he is also expecting Government’s help so that he can emerge as a successful entrepreneur and provide sustainable jobs to the needy and willing persons.
Arjun said, “While I am expanding my earning opportunities, I am also thinking about the agony and despair of other people who had lost their jobs as well as unemployed youths. I am keen to become a job provider. For this, Government assistance in the form of finance, advice and training will help me to achieve my goals faster”.
Shubhankar Acharya aka Arjun – a sacked 10323 teacher – has already set a shining example for many others who are still battling the odds in their lives.
