Tripura Government has announced a three percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for the State government employees and pensioners.

The DA hike will come into effect from April 1, 2025.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha made the announcement on the first day of the Tripura Assembly Budget session on Friday.

With the 3% hike announcement, total DA increased to 33% narrowing down the gap with the Central DA to 20%.

In a social media post, Dr Saha wrote, “During the Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session today, announced 3 percent hike in DA/DR for our Employees/ Pensioners with effect from 1st April, 2025”.

This will require an additional amount of Rs. 300 crore. With this announcement, the DA/ DR will now increase from 30 to 33 percent.

IANS reports: Finance Department officials said that over 1,06,000 government employees and 82,000 pensioners would benefit from the government decision.

The official said that after coming into power in March 2018, the BJP government revised the pay scales, with effect from October 1, 2018, based on the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations. Thereafter, the state government released additional DA and DR several times to its employees and pensioners.

State government employees and pensioners had long been demanding from the state government that their DA and DR be equal to that of Central government employees and pensioners.

Tripura Assembly Budget Session begins

Notably, Finance Minister of Tripura, Pranajit Singha Roy tabled the State Budget for 2025-26 FY on Friday. He has proposed a Rs 32,423.44 crore deficit budget with increased outlay for capital expenditure and no new tax has been imposed.

With total receipt is pegged at Rs 31,993 cr and expenditure is Rs 32,423.44 crore, deficit is estimated to be Rs 429.56 crore.
