Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) Minister Sudhanshu Das visited the Veterinary College at Khayerpur in Agartala on Thursday (April 6) to have a ground level information on functioning of the College.
During his visit, the minister spoke to the faculty members and students of the Veterinary College. Several issues relating to the infrastructure of the college came up in the discussion.
“Minister’s attention was drawn on the problem of drinking water and other infrastructural deficiencies”, said College authority.
Sudhanshu Das told the media that digital classrooms were demanded by the students and faculty members.
According to Das, the demand will be addressed soon in coming days as well as other problems will also be solved.
He opined that the college has a good management in place.
Talking about farmers engaged in animal husbandry, Das said appropriate measures and necessary steps will be taken to increase the number of disease-free animals.
“A lot will happen in the coming days benefitting the animal husbandry sector in the State”, he said.
The minister also pointed out shortage of fish, meat, eggs and milk in the State and said, works has started based on a three-month plan to achieve the target.
He urged the unemployed youths to join in the State Government’s endeavour in augmenting the Animal husbandry sector in Tripura and generate substantial earnings for self reliance.
The visit of the Minister infused enthusiasm among the students and faculty members of the College. As the Minister talked about the State Government’s initiatives in the Animal husbandry sector, students got an idea of scopes and avenues that will come up in near future.
Minister’s assurance on addressing the infrastructure related issues was also appreciated by the faculty members and the students of the College.
“We hope that the infrastructural issues which are hindering the activities of college will be solved so that faculty and students carry on studies in a hassle free manner”, commented a group of students.
